INNOVATION PARTNERSHIP ZONE > Our IPZ

The Tri-Cities Innovation Partnership Zone is one of 11 new state innovation zones designated by Washington Governor Chris Gregoire on October 1, 2007. On April 1, 2008, the Tri-Cities IPZ received a $275,000 grant from the State of Washington for planning and implementation for capital improvements and infrastructure development.

The physical boundaries of the zone are exactly the same as those of the Tri-Cities Research District and the same individual, Diahann Howard, Director of Economic Development and Government Affairs at the Port of Benton, serves both as Executive Director of the Research District and Administrator of the Innovation Partnership Zone.
